Haw on land
A new outdoor warm-water pool, a seasonal pool and a sauna for steam infusions – coming to Hvide Sande Hallen
A long-awaited project becomes reality
After several years of planning, we’re now ready to break ground on a major expansion of the swimming pool. The “Haw on Land” project includes an outdoor warm-water pool, a seasonal pool with cold water, and a large gus sauna with space for 35–40 people.
With the first sod being turned in May 2026, we expect to be able to fill the new pools around New Year at the end of the year. The expansion is part of the board’s strategy to make the hall’s facilities even more attractive—both for local residents and for the many guests who visit our area.

Crucial local support
The realization of “Haw on land” has been made possible through substantial financial support from two local holiday home agencies: Esmark Feriehusudlejning and Feriepartner Hvide Sande – Søndervig/Holmsland Klit Tourist Association.
For a self-governing institution like Hvide Sande Hallen, local support is crucial. It means a lot that local businesses choose to take responsibility and get involved in developing the facilities that create life and community in Hvide Sande.
– Jens Ole Engberg Pedersen, Chair of Hvide Sande Hallen
District-heated sauna
The new gus sauna is heated primarily with district heating as the base load, combined with electric heaters for additional heating.
The solution is expected to save 25,000 kWh of electricity per year—and since district heating in Hvide Sande is both green and affordable, it makes a lot of sense.
“We expect to be able to fill the swimming pool’s pools around New Year.”
– Henriette Bloch Thomsen, halinspektør
The new facilities are expected to increase demand for annual passes. As a local, your entire household gets access, and as a holiday home owner you can give your guests free access to the swimming pool during their stay.
